An Evening at Caffeine and Machine - 25/07/23
Words and Images by Mitcham Media
Working within half an hour of Caffeine and Machine (along with most of the automotive and motorsport industry in the UK), it makes it simple to nip in of an evening for some food.
Even on a random Tuesday the car park is full with a constantly changing array of machines. Out front was a Lotus Esprit and an Aston Martin V8 Zagato giving an 80’s vibe from the off.
Parking up in the wooded area the first thing to catch your eye was a stunning Porsche 912 parked up on the grass hill isolated from everything else. With an immaculate attention to detail and finish the 912 was the highlight of the evening to say the least.
On the parade circle out front of the pub the churn rate was crazy, every time you passed there was a different set of cars parked up.
Super cars were a near permanent feature with some seldom seen metal (and carbon) in the form a F1 Edition Aston Martin V8 Vantage. Standing out from the crowd with the savage contrast of the neon yellow against the deep metallic green with hints of carbon smattered over every panel.
A highlight was a shark nosed BMW E24 635 CSI in immaculate condition, totally original with no hint of modification. Sat beside the 635, an E36 Coupe which was sat scraping the floor with yellow halo eyes and a whole raft of modifications gave a good juxtaposition.
With footage and photos from a three day weekend away, the tent seemed like the perfect place to set up camp and get working while cars passed by. To add to the excellent way to spend an evening, on the menu was brisket burger and halloumi fries which made for the perfect accompaniment for working too.
By the time food was finished the sun was setting which bathed parts of the site in a glorious orange glow as well as casting some long shadows.
The evening was a perfect reminder of how chilled out and enjoyable an evening can be and will certainly be done again.
