Porsche Fever at Bicester Heritage Sunday Scramble

As always the Sunday Scramble is amazing (Jan 2023 covered in full here) although there was definitely an impromptu theme of attendees, Porsches. From early 911’s to 964, to 992’s and even a couple of Carrera GTs.

The popularity is potentially a reflection of the incredibly buoyant Porsche market, but no matter the cause it’s epic to see. Every single model was drawing attention from purists to potential converts, proving they’re far more than the glorified beetle like they used to be described.

The modification and personalisation of each car gave so much diversity, from rat-rods to racers.

There’s something about the shape of a 911, it’s sleek and clean lines have the ability to look timeless and purposeful no matter the location. Very few cars can style out a grassy car park as well as in front of airfield hangers.

Porsche have the ability to create bold colours that never get old, that would often look terrible on any other car but pull it off perfectly.

The great thing about Sunday Scrambles is so many owners are more than happy to leave boots, bonnets and doors open to show off the up-skirt details, changes and modifications.

Blink as you walk past and you could miss the understated-ness of the low production run vehicles such as this 996 GT3 and the Carrera CS which are seldom seen models.

A bit like buses, you don’t often see a CGT and then two come at once. An iconic car with a chequered and dangerous history it was phenomenal to get up close seeing all the details. Despite the fact it was launched nearly 20 years ago it’s aged so well.
