Autoism at Duke of London - December 2022
Switching the ignition on to be greeted by minus 10 being displayed on the dashboard made for an interesting start to the morning, especially when turning the key to start then getting nothing other than solenoid clicks from the starter motor. Bugger.
Some jump leads and 15 minutes of defrosting later wheels were turning heading towards the M40 en route to Brentford and the blue road at Duke of London.
Starting with a wander round the current inventory was like entering a full size toy box with Matchbox icons. A glorious 80’s purple Rolls Royce Corniche catching every eye sat pride of place accompanied by two M Power heros with an E12 530 and E92 M3 either side.
The Irish Green 911T Targa was a personal favourite, a real contrast to the neon lights surrounding it.
On ground level there’s even more icons for sale with every spec of Range Rover Classic you could dream of, all in immaculate condition waiting for a picnic hamper and to hit the road.
It was a privilege to be around some seldom seen on the road vehicles with a stunning bright red DB6 sat out back, but up front was a 959 creeping in the corner. The 959 somehow commanded presence yet was very unassuming hiding what it’s capable of. Comparing the 959 to it’s competitor at the time (the F40) the Porsche is leaps and bounds ahead with all the creature comforts going along side the insane performance.
The icy weather and salted roads didn’t stop people from heading into Brentford. The range of attendees was impressive as always ranging from 1920’s through to modern day. Thank you to Autoism and Duke of London for hosting a wonderful event, we can’t wait for the next one.
