Saywell Track Day, Hyper Car Chaos - 30/03/24

Glorious Goodwood is usually thought of as the horse racing event but that’s surely by people who’ve never attended the hidden gem of a Saywell track day.
Track days on the infamous Goodwood circuit happen reasonably regularly, but none are quite like those put on by Peter Saywell who brings an array of his personal collection to display and put through their paces on track.
Arriving at the circuit we were greeted with the howling of a Porsche 911 992 GT3 RS pinning it out of the chicane and off down the start straight which set the president for how the day would go…
Wandering through the tunnel and up into the paddock you’re struck by an eclectic mix of cars covering a turbo and tweaked Mini 1275, multiple BMW M products, 911’s of all eras, a Diablo, classic race cars, and a McLaren Senna amongst others.
Filling the front section of the paddock closest to the track entrance was Peter Saywells collection with the highlights being a Porsche 918 in an interesting black and grey colour scheme with neon pin striping, along with a visual carbon and metalic blue Zonda with gold detailing exuding wealth from every angle.
The track was buzzing from start to finish with full groups going flat out only slowing for the lunch time parade laps where every car in attendance took to the track along with some additional vehicles (like a Countach) took to the track for a hand full of laps in the sun.
As a spectator the track day was free to attend which is phenomenal when you look at the vehicles you see in action and can get up close to the details of in the paddock between sessions. We’d thoroughly recommend keeping an eye on the website for the next events.
