Carhuna and Coffee - 04/11/23

Words and Images by Mitcham Media

Cars and Coffee is always a good way to start a Saturday and Carhuna certainly know how to organise an excellent event.

Despite the wet and cold weather the lure of coffee and pastries brought people from far and wide in a range of winter inappropriate cars.

Based out of the Carhuna HQ inside was a Range Rover Classic filled to the brim with pastries and a coffee van wafting freshly ground beans round the building.

Inside featured not only an impressive collection of cars courtesy of DK Engineering, but also a range of parts, tooling and spares for some of the most sought after cars in the world. This included the tooling for making GT40 bodywork, a full Ferrari F40 bonnet and stacks of wheels.

A highlight was the Cottingham and Adams Mercedes GT3 car fresh from a fierce battle in the 2023 British GT season.

Out in the car park were some real unicorns, including a Lamborghini Merciélago sat with the rain pouring off the expanses of flat and violent body work. As cliche as it sounds the Merciélago styling is straight out of Airforce aggression.

Stealth seemed to be a theme for a quite a few of the cars in the car park, and none more so than the Aventador SVJ and McLaren 600LT pairing, both in matte black and sounding like fighter jets had landed in the industrial estate.

The 600LT is interesting with the high exit exhausts sticking up out the top of the rear just infront of the wing, there’s probably all manner of science behind hot and cold air creating different pressure to add down force or something, but lets be honest, it would be very cool to look in your rear view mirror and see the over run flames bursting up.

It’s difficult to not get totally disconnected from reality at a Carhuna event with the display vehicles and the attendees being awash with unicorns, from well known like the La Ferrari, to lesser known like the 991 Speedster, Delta S4 and Automobili Amos, and totally unknown by most like the G-Wagen Intruder Concept by Heuliez.

Thank you to Carhuna for organising and hosting a fantastic event as always, the customer services is excellent, looking forward to attending more events in the future. Thank you also to DK Engineering, Girado & Co and many others for bringing along some of their rare collection and inventory to have on display.
