Autosport International - 11/01/2024

For years Autosport International was seen as the launch of a new year of motorsport, it was where big teams would launch new cars, liveries and driver line ups. The show covers four days split with the Thursday and Friday including engineering then the Saturday Sunday being Performance car show where the engineering companies are replaced with show cars, clothing stands and visual part providers. Traditionally on the Engineering days big name companies like Cosworth, Xtrac, Alcon, Sachs, AP Racing, and many more would bring their boldest and best new products along with their boffins to talk nerdy. The halls which are filled across the full four days always featured big players in not only UK motorsport but international.

It’s difficult to gauge Autosport and the value in attending. The footfall is still reasonably high, and from the two days spent there it was clear there is still a lot of business, launches and deals being done but not to the same level of years gone by. Having been to the heyday of Autosport and remembering how vast the event was, how many more companies like M-Sport, Morgan, Bilstein, Radical, Ginetta and so many others who are no longer present with a stand at the show its difficult to not be concerned at how traditional exhibition styled events are declining.

The question also seemed to be which is the best event for the motorsport and automotive world in the UK? I’m sure there is one in the summer which will spring to most peoples minds…
