Collecting Cars and Coffee at Silverstone
Stunning selection of cars on a chilly February morning at the iconic Silverstone Circuit
The trip up to the coldest place on earth started with a nip up the M40 Bahn before crossing along to Silverstone on the dual carriage way. Traveling up in a convoy gave us the chance to get some rolling shots making the most of having a relatively quiet two lanes, the stealthy 3 series feeling like it was photographing an undercover forces unit.
Pulling up at Silverstone you’re greeted by the enormous Collecting Cars flags flailing in the icy breeze and a car park lit up with every colour imaginable. From EV converted 50’s Jaguars, to wedge shaped 80’s supercars, wafty saloons and track focused race cars there was a huge array of cars to see.
As always with events this time of year it’s impressive to see the salt spray over cars that are normally left in the garage.
Part way through the morning we broke away from the pack to have a look round the Silverstone Interactive Museum.
The interactive and immersive experience was an excellent way to get people of all ages and interests engaged. Beginning with a history of not only motorsport at Silverstone but motorsport in the UK as well as the priory and airfield that predated the circuit. Having the ability to get up and in the detail of the technology and engineering behind some of the greatest race cars in history all explained in an easily digestible way was a good edition too.
Leaving the museum towards the end of the Cars and Coffee events meant the cars were far spread out giving so much opportunity for big expansive shots. The bold blue 991 GT3 stood out so well against the bleak grey tarmac and sky.
As always Collecting Cars organised an exceptional event, the turn out was huge welcoming everyone in. Thank you to Collecting Cars and Silverstone Circuit for hosting the event and to everyone involved in keeping the community strong.
